The mission of the Southern California Conservatory of Music is to provide quality music education in an atmosphere that fosters achievement, encourages creativity, and cultivates a lifelong love of music.

Private Music Lessons for Children and Young Adults

· As a conventional music conservatory, SCCM offers children private lessons for all musical instruments and voice at three separate levels, including Preparatory, Conservatory, and Adult Studies.

Braille Music Lessons

· As the only comprehensive year-round music conservatory in North America supporting the blind through braille music literacy, SCCM's Braille Music Division teaches music to blind, visually-impaired, and multi-disabled children. Students learn to read braille music and sight sing, become adept at keyboard geography, leading to all of the attendant spatial orientation implications, develop applied listening skills within comparative history/listening classes, and experience the world of orchestral instrumentation through our orchestral technology labs.

· FAME - Free Access to Music Education - is SCCM's core program within its Braille Music Division. We provide the specialized curriculum, teacher training, expertise, materials and technology required to serve blind students in the mainstream of our traditional conservatory. Visually-impaired students are trained to achieve and compete alongside their sighted peers.

Community Outreach

· As a mobile community resource, SCCM partners with schools and institutions throughout Los Angeles and Orange counties to provide therapeutic and traditional music education to multi-disabled children.

· For the past two years, SCCM has partnered with the California State University, Northridge, and several schools and institutions for the disabled in Los Angeles and Orange counties to teach music literacy to more than 300 blind and/or multi-disabled children and young adults.  The two BMD co-chairs lead a team of five teaching assistants, of whom three are blind, to work one-on-one and in small groups with these students who would otherwise receive no formal music education.
