MICHAEL SELLERS

(Piano)

MICHAEL SELLERS combines a career as an internationally acclaimed concert pianist and recording artist with more than twenty-five years of experience in teaching students of all ages, young children and adults both have been specialties. His students have achieved careers in music, won important awards and obtained advanced degrees in music.

MR. SELLERS has concertized extensively in four continents: throughout the United States, England, Scotland, Germany, Belgium, Holland, France, Italy, Austria, Norway, Switzerland, Spain, Malta, Hungary, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Brazil, Hong Kong and Taiwan. In November, 2007 he completed his 27th international tour. His recordings for Orion under the sponsorship of the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation have won great acclaim including a “Recording of Special Merit” accolade from Stereo Review. He has been frequently heard on the air from Chicago’s WFMT to Zurich’s DRS and Holland’s NCRV to New York’s WQXR to Los Angeles’ KMZT’s “Sundays Live” from the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

MR. SELLERS, besides being on the senior faculty at Southern California Conservatory of Music is on the faculty of Mount Saint Mary’s College in Los Angeles. He earned his Bachelor of Music degree from Northwestern University, his Master of Music degree from the Manhattan School of Music and a certificate from the Moscow Conservatory of Music. He has done post-graduate studies at USC, Aspen Music School and the Dorothy Taubman Institute. He has taught at the Brooklyn Music School, USC and Immaculate Heart College and has guest-lectured and taught master classes on three continents, among them Hong Kong University, Tunghai University in Taiwan, Hilversum Conservatory in Holland, Cal State Dominquez Hills, Zanok Conservatory in Poland and the Centro di Cultura Musicale in Spongano, Italy.

MR. SELLERS has won many awards including the Rudolph Ganz Scholarship Award in Piano and a Rockefeller Foundation grant to study at the Aspen Music School. He is an active member of and recognized by the Music Teachers National Association and the California Association of Professional Music Teachers as a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music and also the Southwestern Youth Music Festival. Mr. Sellers frequently adjudicates auditions and competitions. His students consistently win competitions and high ratings in a wide variety of auditions and competitions.
