Advantages of music study with Southern California Conservatory of Music Our conservatory approach offers students a wide range of experience, academics and exposure to music that enriches their learning experience. We believe that there is more to music than learning how to play the selected instrument. Experience and Faculty SCCM has earned a superior reputation providing quality music education during its 37 year history. Our faculty team includes renowned artists and exceptional educators: SCCM can assure students they will receive the best quality music education possible. Applied Music Theory SCCM students acquire a complete understanding of music theory and its direct application to a variety of music forms from classical to jazz. By teaching the “why” of music along with the “how,” our students appreciate the music they are learning and develop skills faster. Performance As a multi-discipline conservatory, we offer children the opportunity to perform with other students and other instruments, giving your child a well rounded experience in a variety of musical settings. Participating in performances before a studio audience or as part of an SCCM outreach program builds students’ confidence in their abilities. That confidence grows throughout the program and often reaches beyond music to positively affect other areas of their lives. Professional Facilities and Music Library SCCM’s state-of-the-art facility ensures that lessons are held in a setting that is conducive to learning and success. The latest music technology, including Yamaha Clavinovas and computer software, is available to students who are interested in exploring that aspect of their music education. Quarterly recitals are held in our library annex, which also houses one of the world’s largest braille music collections. Future Music Studies SCCM students attend major universities including the New England Conservatory of Music and Manhattan School of Music, while others have gone on to enjoy professional music careers. Whether students choose a career in music, their experience at SCCM teaches them a lifelong love and appreciation of music: They are the future concert goers, the supporters of musical institutions and the proponents of American musical culture. |
