Linda Rose (Violin) LINDA ROSE is a graduate of the Juilliard School where she was a scholarship student of Ivan Galamian and Dorothy Delay. Her early training was with Manuel Compinsky. Ms. Rose has played with the Los Angeles Philharmonic under conductors Carlo Maria Giulini and Zubin Mehta, among others. She was concertmaster and soloist of the Long Beach Bach Festival for eleven years and recorded with them on Alpine Records. She has taught and performed at the Niagara International Music Festival in Canada, the Summit Music Festival in New York, and International Festivals in St. Petersburg, Russia, and Tuscany, Italy. In 2008 she was at the Montecito Festival in California. She is well known as a teacher of gifted young violinists. Her students have won first place in the Los Angeles Philharmonic Bronislaw Kaper Award, the Spotlight Award, Coleman Chamber Music Award, and many others. She has been on the faculty of California State University, Long Beach, for ten years and is the author of Progressive Scale Studies, published by Neil A. Kjos Co. Kevin Kumar (Violin) KEVIN KUMAR, violinist, has appeared as soloist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, West Los Angeles Symphony, Burbank Philharmonic Orchestra, Peninsula Symphony, Inland Empire Symphony, Marina del Rey-Westchester Symphony, and Brentwood Symphony, among others. In addition to attending Columbia University and the Manhattan School of Music, he received an Advanced Studies in Music diploma from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Stanford University. His teachers include Alice Schoenfeld, Linda Rose, and Viktor Tretyakov. As a chamber musician, he has performed in various ensembles throughout the United States, Europe, and Central America and has also participated in radio and television broadcasts, including an appearance on a primetime NBC sitcom. Mr. Kumar has been active as an orchestral player, serving as Concertmaster of the Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra under Valerie Gergiev and Semyon Bychkov in tours throughout major European cultural centers. He was personally invited by the late Sir Georg Solti to participate in the Solti Project at Carnegie Hall. Mr. Kumar teaches privately and has coached string programs in the greater Los Angeles area. |
