DORY BAVARSKY (Braille Music Division) DORY BAVARSKY earned a BA in Music Composition from the University of California, Santa Barbara after studying at SCCM. His music is featured on several TV shows and in independent films. In 2007, he received an Emmy Certificate for musical contributions to the CBS drama "Guiding Light." Dory is a faculty member of SCCM's Braille Music Division outreach program. Besides teaching and composing, Dory is an active piano accompanist and jazz performer. Tony Del Castillo (Braille Music Division) TONY DEL CASTILLO has been teaching piano and Braille music at the Southern California Conservatory of Music since 2004. A former student of the conservatory’s Braille Music Division, Tony received his Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Studies from the University Of Southern California in 2003. Tony has gone on to perform with several artists throughout Southern California. He currently serves as a music minister at St. Dennis church in Diamond Bar, California, where he plays the drums for its Life Teen mass. Tony has also worked as the music director of the Renaissance Theater Company, a children’s theater group. Currently, Tony is pursuing a Master’s degree in commercial music and is also working to obtain a teaching credential from California State University, Los Angeles. While continuing to perform and teach Braille music, he hopes to become a teacher at a high school or college. Grace Kim (Braille Music Division) GRACE KIM is a Music Therapy and Piano Performance major at Chapman University. She has been a piano teacher since 2002. She was a scholarship student at SCCM and has been doing volunteer work since 2001. Grace is a faculty member of SCCM’s Braille Music Division outreach program. |
